MTCA Prescreen West Coast Weekend Prep
West Coast Weekend is here! Read below for all the pertinent tips, tricks, and guidance to make your prescreens (and headshots) go smoothly and stress-free. You got this!
HEADSHOT PREP INFORMATION
Q: What clothing do I bring?
A: Bring what you get complimented in and what you feel most comfortable wearing. Fitted tops in colors that complement your skin tone work best. Light layers, vests, and jackets are great options. Women, necklines that show your collarbone (scoop, tank, v-neck, button-down) photograph well.
Important: my backdrop is mocha/warm brown. Please avoid wearing anything in that same beige, tan, or light brown family, since it will blend into the background. Stick to colors that contrast with a warm mocha tone.
Q:Anything else to know?
A: Come hydrated and well-rested. Bring clean, steamed/ironed clothing, though I'll have a steamer on hand for any wrinkles that show up in transit. Bring anything that helps you feel comfortable and ready to shoot.
SELF-TAPE PREP INFORMATION
Prior to your session, it is REQUIRED to bring a written checklist (printed or on your phone) of everything you need to tape, including each piece, its framing requirement (chest-up, waist-up, full body, etc.), and the cut length for each (60 seconds, 90 seconds, etc.).
Sessions without this ready to go may run short on time.
Q: What clothing do I bring?
A: Bring a couple of options so we can find what reads best on camera. Avoid solid white, cream, light grey, or light tan since those will wash out or blend into the space. Same note as headshots: skip anything mocha or light brown, that's my backdrop color. Keep patterns simple and avoid anything too busy or distracting.
Q: Anything else to know?
A: Bring a printed or digital copy of your sides. Arrive with hair and makeup done if that's part of your prep. Come hydrated, and bring anything that keeps you calm and focused before we roll.
